BICSI (Low Voltage)
Practical uses
- 01
Install, test, and maintain network, fiber, or computer systems.
- 02
Troubleshoot connectivity and hardware problems for clients or employers.
- 03
Qualify for entry-level IT, telecom, or broadband buildout jobs.
How to get it
- 1.
Enroll in the IN101 course: 5 days, 40 hours, instructor-led or blended. Experienced installers can skip straight to the $135 walk-in exam instead.
- 2.
Pass the hands-on exam: 6 tasks, 20 minutes each, usually on the final day of class.
- 3.
Apply separately for the written exam: 75 questions, 2 hours, at a Pearson VUE center. You must pass the hands-on portion first.
- 4.
Pass both to receive the non-renewable certificate.
Study tips
- Drill 568A/568B termination and jacket-stripping speed — the hands-on tasks are timed tightly.
- Learn bend radius and cable support rules; those are the most common hands-on failures.
